Dr. Pitágoras Gonçalves began his piano studies in Brazil when he was 4 years old. He has taught piano private lessons for over twenty-two years, seventeen of them as a college teacher in the U.S. His doctoral degree in piano performance culminated with a monograph in psychoacoustics investigating how humans perceive variations in the timbre of the piano. At the time of his research, Dr. Goncalves invented the present system for analyzing expression in a student's performance.

Mr. Joel Becker has been playing the piano and composing music since age four, and programming computers since age eleven. He received an M.A. in Music in 2006, and an M.S. in Computer Science in 2008 with a focus on artificial intelligence and computer vision. Since then he has been full-time in the software development industry, creating high-quality, user-friendly software.

Dr. Arlin Horton, founder and former president of Pensacola Christian College and Abeka Book, has been a sounding board and participant in the overall development of the Percebe Virtual Piano Method!
